Mark Streiff
Law Clerk
Education
Southern Methodist University School of Law, J.D. (2021)

Mark was born and raised in Connecticut. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to continue a family tradition of serving in our nation’s military.

While in the Marines, Mark served in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Having been deployed in combat multiple times, Mark decided that one day he wanted to help those that could not necessarily help themselves and he felt that the best way to do that was to become an attorney.

After leaving the Marines, Mark earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Texas at Arlington. He then went on to graduate from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree.

While in law school, Mark realized that he loved the practice of criminal law, and in particular criminal defense because it allowed him to defend the accused from the government infringing on their fundamental rights. He spent multiple semesters working in the SMU Criminal Clinic as a student attorney, and later Clinic Chief, where he represented indigent clients in Dallas County Criminal Courts. Mark also worked in the SMU Actual Innocence Clinic where he investigated claims of actual innocence by those that felt they were wrongfully convicted in Dallas County.

To hone his advocacy skills in law school, Mark was extremely active in mock trial competitions. He was successful at both the regional and national levels and was inducted into the prestigious National Order of Barristers, which is one of only two nationally recognized awards bestowed on a law school graduate.
