Texas A&M University
B.A. in English Literature (2010)
B.A. in French (2010)

Anna was born in New York City but raised in Dallas, Texas. Her father is from Italy and her mother is from China, which sparked her interest in immigration from an early age. She also lived in France with her family where she attended elementary and middle school.

Anna has always wanted to be an attorney because she enjoys helping others. She grew up hearing about her mother's and other relatives' struggles with the immigration system in the U.S. so, she developed a passion for immigration law early on and studied it as her focus in law school.

While in law school, Anna clerked for the Attorney General's office and worked for a women's rights non-profit organization lobbying in Washington, D.C. to shut down sites where sex traffickers sold women and children. For her post-graduate fellowship, she worked for the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland pushing the issue of the sale of children in the United States.

After returning to the U.S., she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked as the Legal Director for Mil Mujeres Legal Services, a non-profit organization which provides immigration legal services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She then moved on to a managerial position with a law firm in the D.C. area, Johnson Immigration Law, PC. As managing attorney, she handled almost every type of immigration case.

Anna relocated to her hometown, Dallas, Texas where she has opened up Porter Legal Group to serve the immigrant community in Texas. Porter Legal Group has since helped serve over 1,000 clients and expanded its practice areas into business immigration, divorce and child custody and criminal defense.

Anna is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian and uses her language skills every, single day with her clients. She is planning to learn Chinese next! In her free time, she enjoys quality time with family, travel, dancing and spending time with Randy and their 6 rescue pets!

Adrianna Martinez Goodland
Harvard University School of Law, J.D. (1991)

Harvard University/University of Texcas at San Antonio B.S. in Biology
Bar Admissions
State Bar of Texas (1991)

Adrianna Martinez Goodland is the newest member of the Porter Legal Group, PLLC (PLG). She was born in Española, New Mexico, and spent her childhood living in a number of US cities. After graduating high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she attended Harvard University and the University of Texas at San Antonio, studying Biology and earning her bachelors’ degree in Psychology. College brought many surprises, including a passion for justice, and a desire to study law instead of medicine. Her mother attributes this career choice to Adrianna’s “life-long talent for arguing.”

Adrianna returned to Cambridge, Massachusetts and Harvard Law School, where she earned her law degree. She then moved to the Dallas area to begin her legal career. Prior to joining PLG, Adrianna practiced in the areas of criminal, family, juvenile, and personal injury law. She has worked in large law firms, as well as a solo practice. She was once a public defender, and she served as a Municipal Court Judge for the cities of McKinney, Princeton, and Frisco, Texas.

During her time working in municipal court, Adrianna became interested in the large population of students who appeared before her time after time. Although their offenses were misdemeanors, Adrianna knew these students had the ability to make better choices. Determined to influence students to show their good character and exercise better judgment, Adrianna took a break from the practice of law in order to work directly with them. She spent over a decade as a biology teacher in several local school districts, working to enhance student self-esteem and character, and to expose them to various career options.

Now, having returned to legal practice, Adrianna is excited to bring her 17 years of experience to PLG, to help clients navigate the complexities of our legal system during some extremely stressful life circumstances. When experiencing the US legal system for the first time, it is easy to find it to be impersonal and dispassionate. Adrianna’s compassion and empathy helps to put clients at ease, and lets her clients know that she is in their corner. When not working for her clients, Adrianna enjoys spending time with her family. She has three daughters, a son, and a son-in-law, all of whom keep her busy. She is also proud to say that she has been adopted as the parent of three rescue dogs. While she may sometimes be found watching reality TV cake decorating competitions, she also loves the beach, fishing, hiking, reading, painting, and a host of other art projects.
